As spring arrives more events are being planned at Gainsborough u3a. The cyclists are coming out of hibernation and would welcome new members to join them in their gentle pedalling to a cosy café for lunch and then an equally gentle return. They do wish it to be known that they don’t go very fast and hope this might encourage others to join them!

The gardening group held its planning meeting at the very beginning of March, to organise the coming programme. The major difficulty at the moment is how wet it is underfoot: the continuing rain does create great problems for all gardeners.

The Kurlers’ internal competition has been held and it is interesting to note that the first such event was held back in November 2015. The number who entered shows how enthusiastic members are.
There are several activities in May planned by the Buccaneers, with visits to the Heritage Centre, the Holocaust Centre and a treasure trail in Retford.

The group’s AGM was held on 14th March and gave an opportunity to find what members are looking forward to in the coming year, and to review the progress made since last year. The committee is always open to new ideas and new ventures: the Singing and Craft groups have now been running a year.

The speed with which members have renewed their membership speaks to their enthusiasm for this u3a. Group thanks go to the group leaders and the Secretary and Treasurer for the work they do in making this run smoothly.

New members are always very welcome. Simply Google ‘u3a Gainsborough’ to look at the activities on offer and then, if you would like to try something, use the ‘Contact Us’ link.
