With Wimbledon fever about to take hold, Gainsborough Town Tennis Club is getting ready for a busy summer season.

The club was formed 115 years ago, and not only is it one of the oldest tennis clubs; it is also one of only two clubs in the whole of Lincolnshire which have grass courts.

Located originally next to the Trent Port, the club moved to its current site on Corringham Road in the 1980s and is situated to the rear of the new Co-op store currently under construction.

Club Chairman Phil Green said: “The club has around 100 members aged between 10 and 80 years old, from beginners to league match players. There are ladies social tennis groups, junior and adult coaching, open tournaments, cardio tennis and cup matches. Everyone will be made very welcome.”

There are hard courts and grass courts, floodlights and a clubhouse with changing facilities which members have all-year access to. Find out more at www.gainsboroughtennis.com.
