Gainsborough Snappers Camera Club

The June meeting of Gainsborough Snappers produced an excellent selection of very different images taken by members in response to the recent challenges of ‘Motion’, ‘Differential Focussing’ and shots taken in the table top session the previous month.

The first item shown at the meeting was the current edition of Gainsborough Life, which featured Pat Oaks’ table top image on the cover. This was the Club’s first known cover shot and Pat was congratulated on her achievement.

The discussion began with two members showing printed images. They had a chance to describe how they took their shots and to answer questions from members. A good number of other members had brought their shots on memory sticks, and these were projected and discussed.

It was interesting to see the various interpretations of the challenge themes.

Members are hoping to visit the Framework Knitters Museum at Ruddington, Nottingham before the next meeting. The photos from this visit will be shown next month along with others on the challenge subject of ‘Before and After’. Each set should include one photo as taken and another of the same shot after work has been done to it on the computer. The choice of subject and the nature of the work is unspecified to encourage creativity.

The club draws from a wide area encompassing Doncaster, Retford, Gainsborough, Lincoln and New Ollerton, so if you are able to get to Beckingham for 1.30pm on the first Friday of the month, you will be very welcome.

The next meeting takes place on Friday 7th July. For more information, visit www.snappers.org.uk. Visitors and potential members are always welcome, but it’s advisable to check the website in case of any ongoing trips.
