Gainsborough Men’s Shed: Growing Stronger Together

by | 1 October 2025 | Gainsborough, Group meeting, Local Experiences, Music

The Gainsborough Men’s Shed is celebrating a major milestone – nearly 100 members and counting. Whether long-standing or newly joined, every member has helped to make the Shed a welcoming and vibrant space.
With extended opening hours and a growing list of activities, there is something for everyone, from woodwork and gardening to music and good conversation. The Shed’s new website, http://www.gainsboroughmensshed.co.uk, provides details of activities and opening times, news, events, projects and ways to get in touch.

A highlight of the site is the Marketplace page, where items for sale include restored bicycles, surplus tools and handcrafted pieces made by members. Every purchase supports the Shed’s work and helps fund materials, workshops and outreach. The Shed’s new allotment project is also underway and volunteers are welcome. No experience is needed – just enthusiasm and sturdy boots. Whether keen to dig in or simply enjoy the fresh air, there is a role for everyone.

Music continues to bring members together, led by the Shed’s in-house band, The Shedders. Fresh from their performance at Cherry Willingham’s gala day, they headlined the first Shed Shindig – an afternoon of live music, laughter and friendship attended by more than 40 members and guests. The Shed Shindig will now become a monthly event, each featuring live music, friendly chat and plenty of fun, with The Shedders joined by guest performers or speakers. Other local groups are invited to take part, turning each Shindig into a shared celebration of community spirit. Dates and details will be available on the Shed’s website and Facebook page.

Weekly music lessons for beginners and improvers are now held on Mondays from 6.00pm to 7.00pm in a relaxed, supportive space to learn or refresh skills.

The Shed is open to all, with plenty of opportunities to join in. There is always room for one more.
