Gainsborough Heritage Centre

To celebrate being able to get out more, be sure to plan a visit to the Gainsborough Heritage Centre which is planned to re-open at the end of May. Step through the doors and be transported back in time, soaking in Gainsborough’s industrial history (Marshalls, Roses and many more), find out about local businesses, schools, and housing, walk down the little street taking a peek into shops of days gone by, and see granny’s living room.
The exhibition room is filled with artefacts and information from the famous Mayflower II. Gainsborough is the only town in the country to be privileged to house this amazing exhibition so it is certainly not to be missed.
The Gainsborough Heritage Association is proud of its wonderful centre, which is charity-based and relies heavily on funding, dedicated members and volunteers to help keep the wheels turning. They are still seeking new volunteers to join their existing team. If you are enthusiastic, dedicated and can give a few hours of your time on Saturdays, Sundays or Tuesdays to become part of the centre’s dedicated friendly team please don’t hesitate to contact the centre on 01427 610526, or via www.gainsboroughheritage.com. Keep your eye on their Facebook page for up-to-date information and photos. And when it’s re-open, visit the friendly Exchange café at the centre, which serves reasonable price drinks and homemade cakes and is a nice place to meet up with family and friends.
