Gainsborough Heritage Centre

Exciting times lie ahead for the Gainsborough Heritage Centre.

Exhibition officer Lynne Birkitt announced the four winners of the art competition, which was put out to schools in the area for the children to take part. Some brilliant entries were submitted and choosing winners was certainly a difficult task. Well done to everyone who took part. The winning pictures will be enlarged and have pride of place on the windows of the centre. The winners will be invited to a small ceremony.

The volunteers who work in the archives department at the Centre have been busy sorting and cleaning some of the vast collection of interesting exhibits from days gone by; these will be put on show inside some new magnificent glass cabinets which have been kindly donated to the Centre, allowing them to show many more items that have been previously hidden away.

The Centre is open Saturdays and Tuesdays from 10.00am to 4.00pm, with the team of lovely, hard-working volunteers on hand to help with any questions you might have. It is situated in the Old Telephone Exchange on the corner of North Street.

The cost is just £3.00 (free to members) and children are free if accompanied by an adult – or why not consider supporting the Centre by becoming a member? Annual membership is just £15.00, allowing you to visit as often as you like through the year. The building is disability-friendly, with a lift to all floors. There is a well-stocked gift shop and the cosy Exchange Café selling reasonably priced refreshments and homemade cake.
