The Gainsborough Free Christmas Day Lunch will be going ahead again this year!
Anyone who would otherwise be spending Christmas Day alone is warmly invited to join the Gainsborough Christmas Day Lunch Committee for a free Christmas Day meal, turning what might have been a lonely day into a memorable festive occasion.
Thanks are due to the Blues Entertainment Club and Barry Walker for kickstarting the fundraising for this year’s event. Now in its 49th year, the Christmas Day Lunch is provided free of charge, with the aim of bringing people together to celebrate in company rather than isolation. The event is run entirely by volunteers and made possible through the generosity of local businesses and the community.
The meal will be held at The Blues Club, North Street, Gainsborough DN21 2HU, on Christmas Day, Thursday 25th December. Guests will gather from 11.00am for tea, coffee and nibbles, with the event concluding at around 2.30pm. Carols will be sung, followed by a two-course Christmas lunch prepared by Mandy Cooper.
Entertainment will be provided by Emma, and Santa Claus will make an appearance to distribute presents. Free transport will be available for anyone in Gainsborough and the district who cannot travel independently. Completed forms must be returned to Gainsborough Community Wheels by Thursday 11th December to ensure catering numbers and for health and safety purposes.
