Gainsborough Croquet Club has started a new season and now has four teams running in three leagues.
A team of eight was recently invited to play a friendly match at Brodsworth Hall. An enjoyable time was had and new friends were made. Members and teams have already played up and down the country, with matches at home too. The lawns have required maintenance as usual, not helped by the extremes of weather already experienced this year. Fundraising is under way to help with the associated costs. A Horse and Hounds Race Night will take place on Saturday 23rd August at 7.00pm at The Venue at Roses, North Warren Road, where the club is based.
Entry tickets cost £5.00. A full race may be sponsored for £50.00 (name advertised on the night), or individual horses and hounds can be purchased for £5.00 each. The winning owner in each race will receive a bottle of fizz. The tote will be open for every race for placing bets. Raffle tickets will be on sale on the night.
