Singing members and supporters of Gainsborough Choral Society are looking forward to the start of another season. The first concert of the season is on Saturday 11th November and comprises two works: the dramatic Dona Nobis Pacem by Ralph Vaughan Williams, and John Rutter’s A Sprig of Thyme.
As usual the Lincoln Pro Musica orchestra will be accompanying and the Society is delighted that regular soloists Helen Winter (Soprano) and Terence Ayebare (Bass) are returning for this concert.
This will be followed by Carols for All on 9th December, and the spring concert on 23rd March 2024. All performances take place in All Saints’ Church, Gainsborough, at 7.30pm.
Gainsborough Choral Society, founded in 1860, is a leading choral society attracting members from Gainsborough and surrounding areas of Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire. Currently around 90 strong, the Society performs three concerts each year, normally with a full orchestra, and visiting soloists as appropriate. Vacancies exist in all parts, and the Society would welcome new singers.
Anyone interested in joining the Gainsborough Choral Society should visit www.gainsboroughcs.co.uk or email info@gainsboroughcs.co.uk for further details. Rehearsals will commence on Thursday 7th September.
