Gainsborough Choral Society

Gainsborough Choral Society is currently looking forward to a programme of three full concerts, following the difficulties of the last two seasons.

Their first concert is on Saturday 19th November when the programme will consist of Fauré’s very popular Requiem coupled with the Sunrise Mass by Norwegian composer Ola Gjeilo, one of several living Scandinavian composers. The Society looks forward to tackling this exciting work, which had its first performance in 2008 and since then has been acclaimed round the world as an outstanding composition for double chorus.

This will be followed by Carols for All on 10th December, and the spring concert on 25th March 2023. All performances take place in All Saints’ Church, Gainsborough.

Gainsborough Choral Society, founded in 1860, is a leading choral society attracting members from Gainsborough and surrounding areas of Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire. Currently around 90 strong, the Society performs three concerts each year, normally with a full orchestra, and visiting soloists as appropriate. Vacancies exist in all parts, and the Society would welcome new singers.
