The final concert of Gainsborough Choral Society’s season is entitled Stage and Screen and takes place on Saturday 21st March at 7.30pm at All Saints’ Church, Gainsborough. The programme will be a departure from the Society’s usual repertoire, featuring music from popular stage and screen productions. The evening will include Children Will Listen, Sunday and Not While I’m Around by Stephen Sondheim, a medley from Les Misérables, Adiemus by Karl Jenkins, and songs made famous by ABBA. Tickets are available from http://www.wegottickets.com/event/679398 or from Horsleys, 27 Church Street, Gainsborough.
The Society’s rehearsals take place on Thursdays during normal term time in the Function Room at Marshalls Sports Ground, Middlefield Lane, Gainsborough, DN21 1UU. This is a well-heated venue with excellent parking facilities. Founded in 1860, Gainsborough Choral Society is a long-established and leading choral society, attracting members from Gainsborough and surrounding areas of Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire. With around 65 members, the Society performs three concerts each year, often accompanied by a full orchestra and visiting soloists. Vacancies currently exist in all voice parts, and new singers are very welcome. No audition is required – just enthusiasm for singing.
