Gainsborough Choral Society’s rehearsals for the new season are well under way, and members are enjoying the excellent facilities at the society’s new rehearsal home in the Function Room at Marshall’s Sports Ground.
The first concert of the season will take place on Saturday 15th November and will feature Mozart’s Coronation Mass and Ave Verum Corpus, together with Schubert’s Mass in C and Anton Bruckner’s Locus Iste. This will be followed by Carols for All on Saturday 13th December, which this year will begin at the earlier time of 4.00pm to make the event more accessible for families and younger audience members (and to avoid a clash with a certain major final!).
The spring concert, entitled Stage and Screen, will take place on Saturday 21st March 2026.Concerts take place at All Saints Church in Gainsborough, DN21 2JR. Rehearsals are held on Thursdays during normal term time at 7.30pm in the Function Room at Marshall’s Sports Ground, Middlefield Lane, Gainsborough DN21 1UU. The venue is well heated and offers excellent parking facilities.
Founded in 1860, Gainsborough Choral Society is a leading choral society attracting members from Gainsborough and surrounding areas of Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire. Currently numbering around 75 singers, the society performs three concerts each year, often with a full orchestra and visiting soloists. New singers are warmly welcomed in all voice parts. No audition is required – enthusiasm for singing is all that is needed.
