Gainsborough Choral Society are very much looking forward to next season, during which they will sing two of the great choral works. The first, Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana, promises to be a splendid occasion and will take place on Saturday 16th November 2024. They are performing the two piano and percussion version which contains a number of well-known themes – several used in commercial advertising over the years.
The second of their great choral works will be Verdi’s Requiem, which the Society will be performing on Sunday 6th April 2025 together with Scunthorpe and District Choral Society – an extremely exciting partnership!
Sandwiched between these concerts will be the ever-popular ‘Carols for All’ on Saturday 14th December 2024.
Gainsborough Choral Society, founded in 1860, is a leading choral society attracting members from Gainsborough and surrounding areas of Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire. Currently around 75 strong, the Society performs three concerts each year, often with a full orchestra, and visiting soloists as appropriate.
Vacancies exist in all parts, and the Society would welcome new singers. No audition is required – you just need to be enthusiastic about singing! Rehearsals re-commence on Thursday 5th September at 7.30pm in All Saints’ Church, Gainsborough DN21 2JR.
