Gainsborough and District u3a’s speaker on Thursday 11th May is Paul Stafford on a ‘Journey to North Korea’. Paul has travelled widely and hopes to give an insight into life in this secretive and bizarre country.
In June the group is trialling a quiz morning – very light-hearted, but no doubt very competitive. Potential new members are welcome to attend any of these meetings.
Some new groups are starting up and others have re-emerged. The midweek lunch group is now back up and running, but on a Friday rather than a Thursday. There is now have a singing group and a craft group – early days for these, but feedback from the first singing group meeting was extremely positive. Members have access to a health and wellbeing group, and the next outing for the Buccaneers is a fully-booked canal trip from Burton Water.
The AGM last month was well attended and went very smoothly. There was one new committee member and the executive members were set for the year. Little has changed but there is now a volunteer treasurer who is willing to lead the group into the world of online banking!
For more information on groups or for any queries, Google Gainsborough u3a to find the group’s website.
Membership is £15.00 for the year giving access to interest groups and the Thursday meetings. All the individual groups work on a self-funding system to cover costs.
