At the Friends of Gainsborough Old Hall meeting on Tuesday 2nd July, speaker Paul Howitt-Cowan will present his talk ‘Country Houses That Have Not Survived in the Locality’.

This year marks 50 years since the celebrated exhibition ‘The Destruction of the Country House’ in 1974. In the last 100 years, not less than 1,000 buildings, many of them of outstanding beauty and interest, have been destroyed. Over 40 were in Lincolnshire and 11 in West Lindsey.

But buildings are more than bricks and mortar. Hear more about the destruction of local country houses such as Willingham House near Market Rasen, or Nettleham Hall which succumbed to fire.

The presentation starts at 7.30pm at Gainsborough Old Hall. All are welcome.
