Don’t hide your carrots under a bushel!

The Lea Women’s Institute did not shy away from the limelight as they shone a spotlight on the prestigious Carrot Competition Awards 2022! Winners were honoured to be announced during the Harvest Supper and prizes for the orange oddities were bestowed.

The buffet served was superb as each member had brought an offering. A table laden with quiche, sausage rolls, sandwiches and salad gave the ladies a fabulous feast. It was just what they needed to fuel the serious business of helping others in need.

Macmillan Coffee Morning

Hosted at The Lea Village Hall, there were a multitude of stalls including books, clothes, bric-a-brac and cakes. The event was very well-attended by the local community in support of this vital cause.

Macmillan understands how cancer can affect people’s whole lives – health, money, family, job: everything. And, after more than 100 years of caring, they know that the most important thing is to treat people as individuals, not patients.

The dedicated ladies raised almost £650 towards the charity and take this opportunity to thank everyone who played their part in achieving this fantastic result.

Look into my eyes!

After all the hard work, the ladies deserved to have a little fun. Ryan Roworth, Magician and Mind-Reader, entertained the ladies with a night of mystical magic. Thinking of numbers and playing-card trickery were just a few of the skills up Ryan’s sleeve as he conjured with conjecture to leave everyone baffled in amazement!

Ladies! It all happens at Lea Village Hall, DN21 5JA where you will be assured of a warm welcome. Meetings happen the first Thursday of every month; the 5th January meeting will be a chance to get crafty whilst chatting with new friends.
