Anyone who would otherwise be spending Christmas Day alone is warmly invited to join the Gainsborough Christmas Day Lunch and turn what could have been a lonely day into a memorable festive occasion. Now in its 49th year, the Christmas Day Lunch is provided entirely free of charge. The event’s purpose has always been to bring people together to celebrate the day and enjoy the festivities in the company of others, rather than in isolation. A warm welcome awaits everyone.
This annual celebration is organised entirely by volunteers and made possible through the generosity of local businesses, charities and community members who continue to support it year after year. This year’s festive meal will be held at The Blues Club, North Street, Gainsborough DN21 2HU, on Christmas Day, Thursday 25th December. The event will begin at 11.00am with tea, coffee and nibbles, and will conclude at around 2.30pm.
Guests can look forward to a joyful celebration, including the singing of carols, a two-course Christmas lunch prepared by Mandy Cooper, and entertainment from soloist Emma Kelsey. Of course, no Christmas Day would be complete without a visit from Santa Claus, who will be distributing presents.
Free transport is available for anyone living in Gainsborough and the surrounding district who is unable to travel independently.
