Date set for Rescue Day 2019

After another fantastic Rescue Day in July 2018, the hugely popular family event held in North Lincolnshire will return again for 2019. The organising team are pleased to announce that Rescue Day 2019 will be held on Saturday 13th July at 7 Lakes Country Park, Crowle, near Scunthorpe.

The day focuses on our emergency services and voluntary agencies, including Police, Fire, Ambulance and Water Rescue teams, with live action demonstrations, 999 vehicles plus a chance to meet the teams who serve and protect us and to see close up what they do. This year yet again saw crowds in their thousands enjoy an action-packed day in the sun at the idyllic 7 Lakes setting, with a spectacular parachute landing into the main lake by the Red Devils team among just one of the highlights.

Visitors enjoyed a comedy set from Britain’s Got Talent Winner Lee Ridley who’s known as ‘Lost Voice Guy’. Lee was supporting Fire Fighters from Humberside Fire and Rescue Service and HFR Solutions who took part in a ladder climb to raise funds and awareness for ‘Emma’s Wish’, a charity raising money to fund an operation for four-year-old Emma Symth from Hull. Emma suffers from cerebral palsy and requires the surgery to help her walk. Donations can still be made to Emma’s Wish charity online at www.treeofhope.org.uk/emma-smyth2015 or www.justgiving.com/fundraising/emmaswishmontblancironman.

Reflecting on the success of the event, Chris Long and John Armson (Joint Chairpersons) and all of the Rescue Day committee wish to thank all the companies, organisations and individuals, many of whom are volunteers, who yet again came together to make Rescue Day 2018 such a great day. “Without the support, sponsorship and dedicated involvement of these people the event would not be able to happen, therefore we would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who made this year another fantastic day, including a special thanks to all the team at 7 Lakes Country Park” said Chris.

John went on to say: “A huge thank you also goes to all the members of the public who come along and support both Rescue Day and our emergency services each year. The great interaction that goes on between the public and the emergency and voluntary sector services is just brilliant, and it’s what the day is all about. We are looking forward to 2019 already and will continue to focus on a fun family event which promotes our emergency and voluntary services and agencies, and gives safety messages about road, rail, water, fire and community safety to the public.”

The charitable day is organised by a small team of volunteers which includes serving emergency services staff from East Midlands Ambulance Service, Humberside Fire and Rescue Service and Humberside Police. Proceeds are used each year to fund live saving equipment such as defibrillators which are donated to communities and organisations.
