Connexions has been very busy over the summer, including hosting their own Family Fun Day at Levellings on 28th June, which was a great success. Additionally, the Morton Feastival was another triumph.

Credit goes to everyone involved in organising both of these events, as they showcased strong community spirit and support.

The Performing Arts Club St Johns (PACS) also participated in several events throughout the summer, delivering various workshops in late July and early August. Their final summer performance took place at St Paul’s Church Coffee Morning in early August. From 10th August, their team will continue to support town centre events by providing PA services until the end of the year.

In September, PACS will return to rehearsals at Connexions, preparing for their next show—a musical adaptation of The Nutcracker, to be performed at St Thomas’s Church Hall and the Kings Venue in late October and early November.

As for other activities at Connexions, themed open days are planned for Saturdays in October and December. Coffee Mornings continue on Tuesdays at 10.00am to 12.00pm, and a new Family Hub will be opening at 100 Church Street. The community learning initiative, catering to ages 14 through to adults, is ongoing. Courses have so far included Level 3 Childhood Development, First Aid, Food Hygiene, and the Arts Award, delivered in partnership with local schools, the County Council, District Council, and LCVYS.

Collaborations with other partners, such as the North Notts and Lincs Community Rail Partnership, have also been fruitful, with a busy year of projects across counties. They are working on improvements to the Central Station area, alongside Barry Coward. These improvements will include history boards and ‘Welcome to Gainsborough’ signs later in the year, along with community artwork, with the Connexions 4 Youth Committee aiming to play an integral role in this project.
So, there are a busy few months ahead, with many projects in the pipeline. To stay up to date with everything happening, follow Connexions on Facebook or visit their Hub buildings whenever someone is around.
