Community plant share continues to grow

West Stockwith’s community plant share has been going for a month – and grown in popularity in just four weeks. Located on the green at the corner of Carr Lane and Main Street, it’s a place for people to swap plants, cuttings, etc. Swapping plants is a good – and economical – way to try out new plants in your garden but make sure plants are healthy and have been well cared for. The plant exchange is ‘open’ every day during the summer months.
Set up by Jude and Jonathan Downes and Stephanie Baines, the message is: ‘Need a Plant – Take a Plant, Have a Plant – Leave a Plant’. Jude says: “We got the idea from my old village in Northumberland after seeing it working successfully through photos on Facebook. In West Stockwith, it has been really well used and every time I go, there seem to be different plants, also labels to use, and water containers if needed. Drop by and have a look and keep it moving!”
