Asking questions is the productive way to make progress!

Clarborough and Welham IT Group has a huge range of topics that have and continue to form the basis of classes – but, most importantly of all, classes always start with a ‘Gardeners’ Question Time’ session, during which class members can have everything from simple answers right through to detailed exploration of whole topic areas. Class members determine the structure of classes.

With the autumn block of five weekly 90-minute sessions now almost over, planning is now underway for the first spring 2024 programme that will run from on Saturdays from 6th January through to 3rd February at the usual time of 1.15pm to 2.45pm. Fees also remain at £30.00 for the full five-week programme.

If you are interested in widening your skills base or have particular topics you’d like to explore, do get in touch to book your place.

All sessions are based on so-called open-source applications, which the group can help members install on their own laptops and which are already installed group laptops that class members may use. Everything from ‘office suites’ similar to Microsoft 365 to image editing applications are available as open-source products which all share the crucial quality – they are completely free!

It is worth noting that the IT Group also publishes Clarborough and Welham Community Newsletter, which is produced by LibreOffice, the open-source Office Suite together with Gimp for image editing. The IT Group also manages Clarborough and Welham Community website (www.clarborough-welham.org.uk) on which can be found current and back issue of the community Newsletter.

One potential topic that has already surfaced is that of online family history research based on a reliable no-cost resource. They also explore why there are potential pitfalls online through some famous online websites!

To find out more or to book your place for classes starting on Saturday 6th January at Clarborough Village Hall (DN22 9LN), contact Greg on 01777 700918 or see www.clarborough-welham.org.uk.
