Christian Aid week will run from Sunday 13th to Saturday 19th May. Every day on our television screens we see pictures of people throughout the world who are suffering from war, famine, inhumane treatment and injustice. These people can be helped with donations made to Christian Aid.
This year a concerted effort is being made in Gainsborough and Morton, in an attempt to ensure that Christian Aid envelopes can be delivered to as many homes as possible in the area. It is sincerely hoped that when you receive your envelope you will consider making a donation to an extremely worthy cause. However small or large an amount you are able to afford it will be greatly appreciated by those in such need.
A number of collection points in Gainsborough will be available for ease of returning your Christian Aid envelope and donation. Details of these will be included with your envelope when it is delivered. Of course, your envelope and donation can be returned to your local church and to any Christian Aid event. If you prefer, donations can be made online and details can be found at www.christianaid.org.uk/christian-aid-week.
On Saturday 19th May, there will be a Christian Aid Event at Gainsborough Methodist Church: A Big Breakfast at 8.30am; coffee morning at 10.00am; light lunch at 12.00pm; at 11.00am John Beverley from Christian Aid will be giving a presentation on Haiti (this year’s Christian Aid focus). Booking is not required and you are invited to drop in when you wish.
On Tuesday 15th May, at All Saints Parish Church, afternoon tea with scones will be served from 3.00pm to 5.00pm. Weather permitting this will be in the church grounds. Tickets will be available in advance for this event from All Saints Church Café.
Please make a note in your diaries, and let’s make a difference this year. The total amount collected for Gainsborough and Morton will be published in Gainsborough Life. On behalf of those you will be bringing help to, thank you for your generosity.
