Described by national radio channel France Musique as ‘one of the most gifted pianists of the younger generation’ and as ‘a young artist with a distinctive voice’, Franco-Belgian pianist Antoine Préat is a young artist to watch.
London-based for several years, Antoine has been invited to perform in prestigious venues including Wigmore Hall. The Scunthorpe and North Lincolnshire Concert Society were delighted to have him play at their January event which heralded another feather in their cap for capturing the best emerging performers.
Kindly supported by Making Music’s Philip and Dorothy Green Young Artists’ Scheme, his masterful performance included pieces by Ravel, Debussy and Haydn.
As a registered charity, The Scunthorpe and North Lincolnshire Concert Society has been staging world class music concerts since its inception in 1949. Variety is key as they offer a spectrum of chamber music to suit new listeners and learned scholars.
Vice Chair of the concert society, Marian Pearson, said: “The process of selecting artists begins months in advance of the season. Care is taken to showcase a balance of different instruments whilst seeking virtuosity at every level.
“We usually focus on performers at the start of their careers to provide inspiration for young musicians locally.”
The next concert in the series is on Friday 3rd February and features Mithras Trio (piano and strings). With generous support provided by the Countess of Munster Trust Fund, Strings Attached reviewed that ‘everything they did was there in the music, and they played it with full-bodied commitment’.
The programme will include Beethoven, Korngold and Rachmaninoff’s Trio élégiaque No 1 in G minor. If you have never been to a classical music concert before, this is an excellent place to start in a comfortable setting where the artistry is simply brought to life. Tickets cost £18.00 and children / students attend free with an accompanying adult.
The concert begins at 7.30pm at Outwood Academy Foxhills, Foxhills Road, Scunthorpe DN15 8LJ.
The theatre is modern but cosy and you will receive a warm welcome. There will be refreshments and a raffle. For more details visit www.scunthorpe-concert-society.co.uk.
