Misterton Bowls Club held its annual awards dinner in November. Once again, some of the newcomers elbowed out long-standing members with Tom Allen taking the Gents Champion Trophy. David Seymour joined forces with Peter Kent to take the Open Pairs trophy. The full list of winners was:

  • Townsley Trophy (Ladies Champion Winner): Hazel Duffner, runner-up Pat Harriman
  • Allcock Trophy (Gents Champion Winner): Tom Allen, runner-up Mel Blacknell
  • Lumsdale Trophy (Open Champion Winner): Jim Allsopp, runner-up Alan Stockdale
  • Freebury Trophy (Champion Pairs Winners): David Seymour and Peter Kent, runners-up Freda Allsopp and Brian Haigh.

The Top Rink winners were the Spice Girls, Hazel Duffner, Pat Harriman, and honorary Spice Girl Malcolm Moody. The awards evening ended with a fun quiz. Club chairman Malcolm Moody thanked the bowlers for another enjoyable season, especially the greenkeepers; secretary and treasurer; and the captains.

District councillor Hazel Brand presented the club with a cheque for £255.60 to buy equipment to collect up the bowls after play. Anyone interested in taking up the game of bowls, is welcome to join the friendly club, The Misterton Mallards. Contact Malcolm on 01427 890340 for more details.
