Members of Misterton Bowls Club headed for the seaside to take on Cleethorpes Bowls Club in a friendly match. Pictured are the two captains, Mick Chew (left) and Misterton’s Malcom Moody exchanging emblems. On the hottest day of the year, Misterton lost 5–2, but put it down to having to play on the scorched (very fast) grass of the seaside town rather than the damper atmosphere between the River Trent and the Chesterfield Canal! Fish and chips and ice cream afterwards restored the visitors’ spirits.
