Praised for their exquisite phrasing, full-bodied commitment and bold passionate colours, the Mithras Trio is fast growing a reputation as one of the next generation’s most exciting piano trios.

Playing at The Scunthorpe and North Lincolnshire Concert Society, all three pieces in the programme were labelled either Opus.1 or No.1. It presented the opportunity to hear composers at the beginning of their careers.

A famous fast-food chain has discovered that playing classical music in the evenings and through the night has a calming effect on their customers. Beethoven was in his early twenties when he wrote his Trio

Op.1, No.1 in E flat. It’s doubtful he would have imagined a future where his music would be used to influence people his own age to behave responsibly!

As a registered charity, The Scunthorpe and North Lincolnshire Concert Society has been staging world class music concerts since its inception in 1949.

Their next concert will be on Friday 17th March at 7.30pm at Outwood Academy Foxhills, Foxhills Road, Scunthorpe DN15 8LJ. Although refreshments are on offer, it’s biscuits not burgers! James Gilbert (clarinet) and Julian Chan (piano) will be taking to the stage to showcase Gershwin, Poulenc and Bernstien.

If you have never been to a classical music concert before, this is an excellent place to start in a comfortable setting where the artistry is simply brought to life. Tickets cost £18.00 and children and students attend free with an accompanying adult. For more details visit www.scunthorpe-concert-society.co.uk.
