Beckingham and District Gardeners’ Club’s speaker meeting on Monday 17th March with Neil Timms was extraordinary. Neil, who runs the Fern Nursery in Binbrook, possesses a wealth of knowledge on plants that left members speechless. His talk, titled Over the Fence, explored how many plants once classified as wild are now considered garden favourites. He also shared insights into the growing conditions in which certain plants thrive.
The speaker at the meeting on Monday 19th May will be Ed Cooke from Meadow Makers. Ed runs a family business in Dunham-on-Trent, promoting an eco-friendly approach to gardening using UK native wildflowers. He is passionate about creating habitats for native plants, bees, butterflies, amphibians and other wildlife.
Anyone who is not a member of the club but is interested in hearing from any of the speakers is welcome to attend. The club charges £4.00 for visitors, or an annual subscription of £15.00 per member or £20.00 for a family, which includes refreshments. Meetings are held in Beckingham Recreation Room and begin at 7.30pm.
Those with an interest in gardening, the environment or related subjects are warmly invited to attend. This is a small, friendly club and visitors or new members will be made very welcome.
