The guest speaker at the Beckingham and District Gardeners’ Club meeting on Monday 16th October was Hannah Sylvester, Medical Herbalist, who gave an excellent talk about the herbs and plants that can be grown to improve health and wellbeing.
Hannah circulated various tinctures that she had made and invited members to try them. She also provided herbs, that she had dried, for members to make their own therapeutic tea bags.
The speaker at the meeting on Monday 18th December will be Sheila Clark, who will be running a workshop to demonstrate how to make a Christmas floral decoration.
Following the demonstration, Sheila will provide support to members and visitors, while they make their own floral decoration, to take home with them.
Sheila has travelled the world demonstrating floral arrangements and makes the most spectacular arrangements using silk or natural flowers and natural foliage.
The meeting on Monday 15th January will be a social get-together, with food followed by a question-and-answer session, with expert gardeners.
Anyone who is not a member of the club, but is interested in listening to any of the speakers, is welcome to go along to any meeting. The club charges £4.00 for visitors, which includes refreshments. The meetings are held in Beckingham Recreation Room and start at 7.30pm.
