Be The Difference

by | 14 May 2022 | Gainsborough, Local Charity

Be The Difference is a mental health charity based in Gainsborough at The Studio, Heapham Road Industrial Estate. They raise money through fundraising events and donations, which can be sent through their website or text service. Their aim is to raise awareness of mental health issues and offer support to the local community through organising support groups, one-off events, exercise therapy and one-to-one support as necessary. Self-help guidance is available through their website and a befriending service is also offered.

Knit and Natter

This is a small, friendly group that meets every Wednesday from 10.00am to 12.00pm. Anyone is welcome to join, and the group gives opportunity to meet new people and make some time for yourself. Drinks and cake are provided. Materials are offered for you to learn to knit or crochet, or you can take your own project to work on.

Parent Support Group

A brand-new group that is meeting weekly on Tuesday afternoons from 1.00pm to 2.00pm. The group is for parents and carers of children with mental health issues that may range from low mood through to self-harm. This is a peer-support group and will be a safe space to discuss problems that are faced by parents who are experiencing these challenges with their children. Connecting with other parents can be invaluable in helping you feel supported and that you are not alone in your journey. It is important that we maintain our own mental health to be able to best support our children.

Mental Health Week

Beginning on 9th May, the topic this year is loneliness. This has obviously been a huge issue throughout the pandemic and now we must overcome its impact as the restrictions have been lifted. Be The Difference plans to be out in the community during the week at different locations to offer advice and support. Please look out on their social media for the most up-to-date information on where to find them; they would love to see you!

The charity always welcomes suggestions for groups people would like to see them organise or, if you have an idea for a fundraising event that you would like to arrange, please contact them on or 0300 102 7735. For more information visit
