The Arts Society Gainsborough and District’s December Christmas lecture was given by Ghislaine Howard. An artist of national reputation and woman of the year 2008, she has work displayed in the Royal Collection.
This illustrated lecture was not about her own work but about artists through the ages who loved their food – and included many great works of art, anecdotes and even some favourite recipes. A good topic approaching the Christmas season.
The group’s next meeting is on 2nd February (no meeting in January). It will be the AGM, starting at 1.15pm and followed by Barbara Askew’s talk ‘Happy and Glorious, 1,000 years of Coronations’. This will be followed on 2nd March by Nicholas Marchant talking about ‘The Country Houses of Yorkshire’.
Meetings take place at Trinity Arts Centre and you can book lunch to be provided prior to the start of the meeting. To book lunch email barnyhsek@me.com and to find out more about the Society call Chairman Leslie Whiting on 07871 459803.
