Alzheimer’s Society’s Forget Me Not Appeal

by | 10 June 2025 | Gainsborough, Local Charity

Residents across Gainsborough are encouraged to show their support for those living with dementia by wearing an Alzheimer’s Society Forget Me Not badge throughout June.

The Alzheimer’s Society’s Forget Me Not Appeal aims to raise funds for life-changing dementia support services for people affected by the condition today, as well as vital research to improve outcomes for those who may develop it in the future.

Dementia touches everyone. One in three people born in the UK today is expected to develop dementia during their lifetime. In West Lindsey alone, over 1,800 people are currently living with the condition. Each Forget Me Not badge holds a personal meaning – whether it symbolises a parent, a friend, or a cherished memory.

Alzheimer’s Society patron Dame Judi Dench is backing the campaign. She commented: “Every Forget Me Not badge has its own meaning. Having seen the impact of dementia first-hand, I’m sadly all too aware of how cruel and unforgiving this condition can be—not only for the person affected, but for their loved ones too. This June, join Alzheimer’s Society and thousands across the country by wearing your Forget Me Not – to support people living with dementia today and those who may face it tomorrow.”

The suggested donation is £10.00. For every £50 raised, a family could receive support from an Alzheimer’s Society Dementia Adviser, helping them navigate a new diagnosis with confidence.
