The magnificent sum of £2,520 has been raised for Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance throughout 2024 in the Gainsborough area, by a cycle ride and donated cycles sold through recycle auctions and Gainsborough Cycles. The group started raising funds in the year 2000 and to date £32,765 has been collected.
The Colin Smith Memorial Shield has been awarded to Gainsborough Aegir Cycling Club member Maxine Downes for raising £430 in sponsorship.
A Presentation Evening was held at Saint Georges Hall in Gainsborough on 4th November 2024 to hand over a cheque and awards, thanking people for the work done for a notable charity.
Gainsborough’s National Bike Week coordinators Trevor Halstead and Daniel Nicholson welcomed Anthony Hubbard and Lenny Lennox, who represented Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance.
Also present were Mayor of Gainsborough Ken Woolley, who was a paramedic at the start of the Air Ambulance 30 years ago, and Thirza Dixon, who was in office at the start of fundraising over 30 years ago. All four spoke of their involvement with the charity.
