70 year old bowls club looking for new blood

by | 12 April 2018 | Gainsborough, Sports Club

Beckingham Bowls Club was formed in July 1948 and consequently will be celebrating their anniversary with the 70th Anniversary Open Pairs on Sunday 15th July. The club is currently healthy with good membership, a social programme, adequate funds and a programme of sponsorship and fundraising events for 2018. However, we need new members of all ages and ideally younger than the club, to carry the club into the future for the benefit of the village and local community.

The green is situated adjacent to the Village Hall and opens for the season on Thursday 19th April and anybody interested in joining the club in any capacity, with or without bowling experience, would be most welcome. The bowls club is the only remaining outdoor sports club left in the village, with the football, cricket, hockey and tennis clubs all gone by the wayside long ago. Details of the club’s history and news can be found on our section on the village website by searching for Beckingham Bowls Club, or via www.beckingham-northnotts.org.uk.

If you are interested in joining, please turn up around 5.30pm on 19th April. All you need is to wear flat shoes and the club will provide the rest. Alternatively, please call Roger Platts on 01427 848628, and he will be happy to provide all the information you require.
