The Kirton in Lindsey Society new season of talks starts on Tuesday 28th September.
The talk this time is titled ‘Kirton in Old Postcards’ – Martin Hollingsworth takes a look at our town through the eyes of postcard producers and those that sent them. They can tell many stories in a few words and many were printed and produced locally.
It is a revised and updated talk from one given nearly 15 years ago. The earliest postmark found on a card then was from 1906; is it still the oldest? Since then, also, the Society’s collection of postcards has grown and some will be on display at the meeting.
The meeting is also the AGM, which will take place before the talk.
All meetings commence at 7.30pm in the Diamond Jubilee Town Hall, High Street, Kirton in Lindsey DN21 4LZ. Entrance fee is normally 50p, including refreshments for members, and £2.00 for non-members except for special meetings.
