Promoting local artists for 10 years

Back in 2011, the refurbished and extended Kirton in Lindsey Town Hall had only recently re-opened and the Trustees recognised that the Large Hall would be an ideal space for an art exhibition and wanted to give local artists the chance to display their work. A bit of a risk, as no-one was sure if local artists would be interested or if local people would come and see it. The risk paid off!
There is a wealth of local talent out there working in a wide variety of creative media and they were delighted to have a new outlet to showcase their work. Local interest was high too and many artworks found a new home on the walls and shelves of the people of Kirton and further afield.
Since then it has gone from strength to strength, and they even managed an exhibition in 2020 in the gap between lockdowns. So, this year marks their 10th year and, as ever, there will be a range of artistic techniques including painting, pottery, textiles and glass craft and there will be the opportunity to buy everything on display. Local artists, and some from further afield, display up to four pieces in any medium. Each year has been a bit different, with some regular exhibitors and some new ones each time so always plenty to look forward to.
If you’ve never been – go and support them and marvel at the quality of local talent and, you never know, you might find just the thing you were looking for to solve that gap on the wall or awkward space!
It will be held on 1st and 2nd October, from 5.00pm to 9.00pm on Friday 1st and from 10.00am to 5.00pm on Saturday 2nd. Tea, coffee and snacks will be available throughout and the bar will be open on the Friday evening. Admission is free, catalogues are £1.00 and all proceeds go to support the Town Hall charity.
Are you a local artist?
