Gainsborough and District Macmillan Cancer Support – World’s Biggest Coffee Morning 2026

September brings Macmillan’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning campaign. Gainsborough and District Macmillan Cancer Support Group’s main coffee morning will take place, as usual, on the final Friday of the month – Friday 25th September.

Hold your own coffee morning

Coffee mornings do not have to be held on the official date; any suitable day is a good day for an event. Anyone planning a Macmillan fundraiser who would like the money raised to support services in and around Gainsborough and Lincoln should contact Helen or Rachael. The group may be able to provide Macmillan-branded items, including tablecloths and other materials, and, where possible, arrange for a fundraising team member to support the event.

Local coffee mornings already planned

  • The Cancer Support Group – Thursday 17th September, 10.00am to 12.00pm, at The Venue, Roses Sports Ground, North Warren Road, Gainsborough, DN21 2TU.
  • Sue Bingham’s Coffee Morning – Friday 18th September, 10.00am to 12.00pm, at the Farm Shop in Willingham by Stow.

Could you spare a couple of hours?

The committee is made up entirely of volunteers, and local people have helped it raise a considerable amount for Macmillan Cancer Support over the years.

The money raised helps fund nurses and care for people living with cancer in the area. The group would now like to hear from more occasional helpers. It is not seeking additional committee members, but friendly people who could spare a couple of hours to help with a collection at places such as Morrisons or Marshall’s Yard. It is not a hard sell: a smile, a hello and a willingness to listen are often all that is needed. Volunteer bakers are also welcome. Victoria sponge, lemon drizzle and other homemade treats are always popular and make a real difference at fundraising events.

The group thanks all its current and previous helpers, bakers, committee members and supporters. In 2027, it will celebrate its 25th anniversary and hopes to mark the occasion with a year of special fundraising activities.
