The Afternoon Ballroom Tea Dances have been taking place at Morton Village Hall for around 20 years. Unfortunately, 2026 has been a mixed year, with attendance numbers declining.
Each dance features a mixture of recorded music for ballroom dances including the Waltz, Foxtrot and Quickstep, alongside Latin favourites such as the Rumba, Cha Cha Cha and Tango. A Sequence Dance and an Old Time Dance are also included in each half of the afternoon.
The events are about more than just dancing. The opportunity to socialise and catch up with friends is an important part of the afternoon and is greatly valued by those who attend.
Dances are usually held on the third Thursday of each month from 2.00pm to 4.30pm, with a refreshment break of approximately 25 minutes and time for any dance-related announcements.
The next dance will take place on Thursday 16th July. There will be no dance in August, with the regular programme resuming on Thursday 17th September.
The group is friendly and welcomes new dancers of all abilities. It is not a dance class, but an opportunity to enjoy dancing in a relaxed and social atmosphere.
The venue is Morton Village Hall, Walkerith Road, Morton, Gainsborough. Admission is £5.00 per person, although occasional free dances are offered to regular attendees. A raffle is also held, with prizes donated by dancers.
