Riverside Indoor Bowls supports bowlers of all ages, and young players are seen as the future of the sport. The club is proud to encourage 15-year-old Kelsie-Jay by providing her with a smart new set of bowls as she continues to develop her talent.
Kelsie-Jay and her father Andy first played outdoor bowls at Eastgate Bowls in Lincoln and at Dunholme St Giles. Kelsie-Jay quickly became a regular player, taking part in league matches three or four times each week.
She has already achieved impressive success at a young age. Kelsie-Jay competed in the National Finals for under 17s and reached the last 16 in the All England competition. In 2024 she was selected as a substitute for her county team, and in 2025 she went on to represent her county.
Kelsie-Jay and her father began playing indoor bowls in 2024, and she soon made her mark there as well, reaching the National Finals in the under 18 pairs competition. During 2025 she was also selected as a reserve for the under 18 county team and reached the semi-finals of the Inter County Games in both the under 15 singles and the under 18 triples competitions.
This year Kelsie-Jay has already competed in Hartlepool and will soon take part in her first UK Open Singles event. She is regarded as an exceptional young player and a great example to other young people interested in sport.
Despite some common misconceptions, indoor bowls is not only a sport for older people. It can be enjoyed by players of all ages and offers opportunities for young competitors to develop their skills and compete at high levels.
At present, Kelsie-Jay and her father have to travel significant distances to play and train, as they live in Gainsborough. A local indoor bowls facility would allow more time for training and help support young players like Kelsie-Jay as they continue to develop in the sport.
