Love Lane Allotments

by | 2 April 2026 | Community Focus, Gainsborough, Local Experiences

Do you fancy a taste of allotment life?

Plot 53a at Love Lane has been divided into small taster plots for residents who would like to try growing their own produce. Each plot is large enough to supply vegetables for a family of four.

There is a communal hut with equipment and provisions for the plots, along with shared rhubarb, strawberry and raspberry beds, and two apple trees. The plots are run in line with Gainsborough Town Council guidance and rules, helping people prepare in case they decide to take on one of the council’s allotments in the future.

Children are welcome when accompanied by an adult and there is no fixed day or time commitment. Once you are familiar with your plot and the facilities, you are free to come and go in your own time.

There are also volunteering opportunities on the plot, including helping to care for the wormery, creating liquid manures, assisting with the construction of the polytunnel, path building and vine management in the vineyard area, which is being planted this spring, as well as general maintenance work.
