Imagine a clarinet having a conversation with a cello. Would they even speak the same language? In the world of chamber music, their exchange can sound like anything from idle gossip to fiery debate. Ensemble 360 is renowned for its virtuoso performances, bold programming and engaging interpretations of music ranging from baroque duos and classical quartets to new commissions for all eleven players. Their performances are often described as musical conversations, with themes and motifs introduced by one instrument and ‘responded to’ by the others.
Formed in 2005 by Music in the Round to take up residency at Sheffield’s Crucible Studio Theatre, Ensemble 360 quickly gained an enviable national reputation. The programme for their upcoming concert will include piano quartets and quintets by Huw Watkins and Shostakovich. BBC Music Magazine described Ensemble 360 as ‘nothing short of a triumph!’ They will be performing for the Scunthorpe and North Lincolnshire Concert Society on Friday 14th November. The concert will begin at 7.30pm and finish by 10.00pm. Single tickets cost £18.00 and can be purchased on the door, while children may attend free when accompanied by an adult.
