Last year’s Gainsborough Salvation Army Christmas Appeal saw a rise in the number of children referred through Social Services and local children’s agencies, with support provided at a cost of more than £13,000. Thanks to generous local donations, every child referred received brand-new toys to open and a Christmas hamper to share.
This year, Gainsborough Salvation Army will again be working with Social Services, local agencies and schools to ensure that every local child living in poverty has new presents to open on Christmas Day and a festive hamper to enjoy.
Beginning in November, Major Colin Bradshaw and his dedicated team of volunteers will launch their fundraising campaign to provide brand-new toys and Christmas hamper food for more than 500 children – but they need the community’s help.
Monetary donations (cheques payable to The Salvation Army) can be delivered or posted to: Gainsborough Salvation Army, Beaumont Street, Gainsborough DN21 2ER.
The church is also open to receive brand-new toys (not second-hand) and food donations on Mondays and Fridays between 9.00am and 1.00pm, and on Sundays between 9.30am and 12.00pm. All donations must be received by Sunday 7th December.
Together, the community can help make Christmas special for local children living in poverty.
