Did you hear? This girl went to DiscoveryFest!
What does that mean? It means they went caving, climbing, crafting, planting, bouncing on bouncy castles, dodging and diving on the assault course, hitting the bull’s-eye at archery, making moves on the silent disco dance floor, crazy golf, loads of goes around on the steam carousel – the favourite activity of the day – and more!
The 12-strong organising team spent nine months planning and preparing the fun-filled day for 136 Rainbows (aged 4-7 years), 348 Brownies (aged 7-10 years), 211 Guides (aged 10-14 years), 29 Rangers (aged 14-18 years), and 194 volunteers from across northern parts of Greater Lincolnshire.
What’s that in real numbers? Well, that’s 930 ice creams!
Brownie Imogen said it was ‘an incredible day,’ while Brownie Scarlett said the day was ‘so, so good, can we do it again?’
Well, Scarlett, the good news is, for Rainbows and Brownies, there is an event next year called Junior Poacher, while Guides and Rangers get the chance to have a whole week of a whole load more activities. Through fun, friendship, challenge, and adventure, girls are empowered to find their voice, inspiring them to discover the best in themselves and make a positive difference in their community.
You have to be in it to be able to go though, so if you know a girl who would like to join or if you would like to volunteer, or know someone who could be part of organising an event like this, register at http://www.girlguiding.org.uk.
