A new monthly pop-up café is launching in Lea, and everyone is invited! The Local Slice will take place one Sunday a month from 2.00pm to 4.00pm at The Little Retreat, Lea Methodist Church, Lea, DN21 5HZ. The first event was held on Sunday 27th July. Readers are encouraged to check the organiser’s Facebook feed for details of future dates – www.facebook.com/LocalSlice. The café will serve a range of delicious homemade bakes created by Izzy Heywood of Bakes By Izzy – all prepared to a 5-star hygiene standard. Guests can expect a mouthwatering selection of cakes, gooey traybakes and other sweet treats.

Whether popping in for a hot or cold drink, enjoying a bite to eat, or simply having a good catch-up with neighbours, The Local Slice offers a warm and friendly space to relax and connect with the local community.
All proceeds from the pop-up café will support this year’s Christmas Ho Ho Grotto, due to take place on Sunday 14th December at The Riverside Room, Bridge Street, Gainsborough. The event helps bring festive cheer to families most in need.

There will also be a collection box at each café session for donations of non-perishable food items. These will go directly to the Gainsborough Salvation Army Food Bank to support local families. Items particularly needed include: UHT milk, Weetabix, tinned meat, tuna, tomatoes, soup and baked beans. Everyone is encouraged to go along, treat themselves, and help spread some much-needed community cheer.
