We’ve enjoyed some wonderful holiday weather – perhaps too hot for some and too dry for the gardeners among us! British weather never ceases to give us something to talk about – but at Lindsey u3a, there’s much more to enjoy than the weather. Take a look at some of the group’s plans for August:

  • Wednesday 13th August – The Theatre Group will visit Buxton Opera House to see Iolanthe
  • Thursday 21st August – The Architecture Group will take a tour of Kirton Lindsey
  • Tuesday 26th August – The Garden Group will head to The Fern Nursery at Binbrook

As a member of Lindsey u3a, you can participate in any of these excursions (space permitting). To find out what the many interest groups are up to, visit www.lindseyu3a.org.uk where you’ll find an A–Z of activities and events. Take part as much or as little as you wish.

Monthly meetings

Lindsey u3a meets at Welton Village Hall, usually on the first Thursday of the month. Guests are welcome to attend without obligation. Doors open at 9.30am for tea and coffee, with an opportunity to meet interest group leaders in the Welton Room. A guest speaker follows at 10.30am in the main hall.

Upcoming meetings:

  • Thursday 7th August – Maggie Watkins, an official Mayflower tour guide, will give a talk entitled ‘Mayflower Pilgrims’ New Beginnings’, exploring the rich Mayflower history across Lincolnshire.
  • Thursday 4th September – Author Margaret Dickinson will speak about her ‘Life as an Author’, reflecting on her roots in Gainsborough and love of the Lincolnshire coast.

Lindsey u3a offers a wide range of interest groups run by members for members. You can also join various online talks, workshops and courses via http://www.u3a.org.uk. If you’re unable to attend the main monthly meetings, why not join u3afor an informal cuppa? The Gardeners’ Retreat tearoom at Scothern Nurseries hosts a Lindsey u3a coffee morning at 10.15am on the fourth Thursday of each month. The next will take place on Thursday 28th August. Whether you’re new and curious, or a current member who fancies a chat and a scone, you’ll be made very welcome. For more information about Lindsey u3a, visit www.lindseyu3a.org.uk.
