Following another successful visit from the Irontree Alpacas to the Bassetlaw Museum Gardens and with the school summer holidays now under way, August is expected to be a quiet month for the Friends of Bassetlaw Museum. The Committee will go into recess, and the monthly museum tours will pause until October. However, a special dedicated tour is planned for late September for a women’s group from Worksop.

Meanwhile, the Museum itself will be bustling with the sound of children enjoying a wide range of holiday activities. Full details of these events can be obtained directly from the Museum and its usual communication channels. Looking ahead, the Friends will hold their AGM on Thursday 16th October. The meeting will be followed by a talk from Angela Anwyl on the history of music in Retford – a date well worth adding to the diary.

Museum tours have become a well-established part of the Museum’s monthly programme, and interest from local groups continues to grow. Enquiries from interest groups or local organisations about dedicated tours are warmly encouraged. To arrange a tour, contact the Museum or email fobm.tours@gmail.com. Public tours will resume from Friday 3rd October and must be booked in advance.
