Morton Village Hall

June was a busy month at Morton Village Hall, with their ever-popular quiz night and a busy coffee morning, alongside several birthday parties. They continue to have a busy programme of groups hiring the hall, from Cubs to crafts and bowls to line dancing. Information on all regular groups is available on the notice board in the hall foyer.

The Morton Art Group meets every Tuesday from 1.30pm to 4.00pm at Morton Village Hall. Once per month the group invites a visiting professional artist to host a workshop (11.00am to 4.00pm).

Do you ever do anything that makes you feel good and is so immersive that you lose all track of time? That’s the experience of the featured artist and members of the Morton (and District) Art Group. Last month’s art workshop was no exception to this; the subject was Moonlight Cottage, the medium either acrylic or soft pastel and the artist, professional artist Amanda Jackson, who seeks to generate joy from art, and boy did she deliver!

The piece featured here is by Helen Mills, an active member of the group and amateur artist, who likes to work mainly in either soft pastel or watercolour. Amanda’s expertly curated workshop helped Helen tell a story through this piece which will be available to view at this year’s Morton Feastival on the Morton Art Group’s stall.
