Now the better weather is here (albeit on the cold side), Gainsborough in Bloom is gearing up its activities.
It’s great to see the wallflower plants burgeoning in the planters round the town to add some colour to people’s days.
The theme for planting this year will be red, white and blue to mark the VE 80 anniversary
The judging route will be mainly based around the town centre areas to take into account the work which has been done under the Invest Gainsborough project. This should be finished by the time the judges visit in July.
The team are currently working with Parish Church school and the church to provide planters to replace the wooden ones in the churchyard which have fallen into disrepair. The children will be able to watch the results of their efforts and their work will improve the garden at the church too.
At the moment, it is planned that the boat secured by the Town Council will be sited on Thorndyke Way roundabout and filled with flowers. This is subject to certain approvals.
Gainsborough in Bloom is delighted the owners of the Hickman Hill Hotel have entered the Best Pub / Hotel competition and the team wish them every success when the judges visit.
Marshall’s Yard are also entered in the Best Retail Park competition and will be hoping for Gold this year having missed out on the top award last year by only a few marks.

The committee will be meeting again and liaising with the Town Council around Easter and finalising the plans for 2025 and the judging route.
