The Kirton in Lindsey Society’s season of indoor meetings continues on Tuesday 22nd April at 7.30pm in the Town Hall, with new speaker Tim Davies.
His talk, intriguingly titled ‘Otchkins, Boggarts and a Tater for Rheumatism’, will explore Lincolnshire folklore and sayings collected by local historian and author Ethel Rudkin, who passed away in 1984, along with contributions from other sources.
Is your house or garage protected by ‘thunderwort’? Have you eaten ‘breeyad ‘n’ cheeyas’ in May? Tim’s talk promises to be a fascinating insight into the region’s traditions and superstitions.
Future talk topics include A Swift Gallop through 20th-Century Costume! and Crime and Punishment – Anglo-Saxons to Present Day.
