2024 was Town Hall Live Kirton’s best ever year, and 2025 is set to be just as good, with artists from Canada, America, Australia, and the UK gracing the venue. The year kicks off with two concerts by artists from either end of North America.
Ruth Moody
Friday 31st January
Ruth is an award-winning singer-songwriter from Winnipeg, Manitoba. Her otherworldly, wistful soprano voice and inspired songwriting have earned the admiration of millions of listeners. As a solo artist and founding member of The Wailin’ Jennys, she has performed to rapt audiences at sold-out venues worldwide.
Her collaborations with the legendary Mark Knopfler introduced her to music lovers across the globe, performing at venues like The Royal Albert Hall, both as a support act and as a guest in Mark’s band.
After a whirlwind of shows and her own solo tour, Ruth took time off in 2016 to start a family. Now, she returns with her new album Wanderer and a UK tour. From the first note of Wanderer, listeners are immersed in a lush, intimate world of open-tuned guitars, soaring pedal steel, and intricate harmonies.
At her Town Hall Live concert, Ruth will be accompanied by Anthony Da Costa on lead guitar and Sam Howard on bass. Anthony, a singer-songwriter in his own right, will perform a short support slot.
Kim Richey
Sunday 9th February
Two-time Grammy-nominated Kim Richey, from East Nashville, Tennessee, is a storyteller with a voice so pure, arresting, and honest, it literally aches with life’s truths. When you hear the first few notes of a Kim Richey song, you know you are in for a great ride – warm, expressive, melodic songs. She transports the listener to a world where words paint pictures and melodies touch the soul.
Over the past two decades, Kim has released ten critically acclaimed albums. Her album Glimmer was listed in Time magazine’s ‘Top 10 Albums of 1999’, and Rise was named ‘Alt Country Album of the Year’ in People magazine. Her 2013 release Thorn in my Heart was featured in best-of lists by No Depression, The Boston Globe, and The Associated Press.
In May 2024, she released her latest album Every New Beginning. The songs on it represent the full spectrum of Kim’s gifts as both a songwriter and singer. She will be accompanied by Luke Brightly on electric guitar.
