For the Women’s Institute, bored housewives are as much a myth as fairies at the bottom of the garden. There is so much on offer there is no need for desperation. Just let yourself be welcomed with open arms and join in!

Macmillan Coffee Morning

Hosted at Lea Village Hall, the ladies thank everyone who supported this event and helped raise a whopping £429.26 for this worthy cause.

What do The Women’s Institute do?

It might be easier to answer what don’t they do? They attend functions, they listen to guest speakers, they open their hearts and minds to new topics of conversation and they learn a thing or two.

When Unique Auctions visited to talk, they explained how common it was to attend house clearances to find that the ‘rubbish’ in the skip outside was usually way more valuable than the saved items in the house. When Dr Kate Cherrell from Burials and Beyond visited, Morning and Sentimental Jewellery from the Victorian era showcased the black beauty of Whitby Jet.

At the next session, the ladies will be turning their artistic hands to wreath-making. Join them on Thursday 5th December, 7.00pm at Lea Village Hall, DN21 5JA.
